NSF STC Program
The Science and Technology Centers Program was launched by the National Science Foundation in 1987 to drive innovative, interdisciplinary collaborations and facilitate the transfer of knowledge and technology between science and industry. STCs have grown into a vital network of programs. They have catalyzed breakthroughs, built bridges of exchange with industry, spun off new technologies and businesses, and trained young scientists and engineers. The vision is to encourage transformative high-risk research on the frontiers of science and engineering. The NSF STC program also supports development of the science and engineering workforce through mentoring and training of undergraduate and graduate students, postdoctoral scientists, and fostering diversity in STEM fields.
